Very large, stunning English sterling silver chased and engraved lobed teapot on a decorative scroll-work stand. Spirit heating element present.

The teapot is melon-shaped with domed lid topped with a vine, leaf, and floral knop. Scroll handle and spout on a platform stand with a spirit burner, engraved with a coat-of-arms of a bust of a bearded man and a beautiful gothic-letter inscription from a Mary Hanes. On pad feet, hinge top, hinged bottom with chain and pin attachment 98.8 troy oz. London date letter for 1837. Makers marks for Joseph and John Angel. Retailed by I. & T. Turner.
