Painting, oil in canvas, depicting two Chinese peasant women, one wearing a cap, holding implements as they walk away from the viewer into an abstract or muted background. Painting is signed by Zhang Jiang (signed and dated lower left), a well-known painter of Chinese peasants. This is an early work, from 1991, before the artist’s more commonly seen elaborately costumed subjects from Northern China.
